Folks, the conspiracy groups can thrive only if you remain, for lack of a better word, gullible. It’s easy to see something on social media and hit the Share button because the headline struck a nerve with you. Thing is, you did not, at a minimum, read the story (or if you did, follow up with a fact-check) — and these troll farms literally prey on human nature.
No one is trying to stop #SaveTheChildren. What is happening is a massive disinformation campaign. And because you loathe someone (Clinton, Soros, etc.), the conspiracy people are pumping out crap they know the target audience will swallow without reservation.
Be pissed off and do something about the issues. But before you do anything, make sure it’s serving the interest of the issue. … Meanwhile, Georgia is prepared to put one of the largest QAnon proponents — Marjorie Taylor Greene — in D.C. And folks wonder why nothing changes?
FFS, the AP felt compelled to write a story that yes, Kamala Harris is eligible to be president. As directed by the Constitution, a presidential candidate must be a natural born citizen of the United States, a resident for 14 years, and 35 years of age or older. Fun facts: Harris was born in Oakland, Calif., she’s been a resident for at least 14 years, and she’s 55 years old.
It’s almost as sad as Mark Levine noting Kamala is not “Black” because her Jamaican father cannot trace his ancestry … to slavery. WTF?! She’s a Black woman; let’s move on.
Trump, Rove, Fox News, CNN, Soros, Clinton — none of them control what you read, what you research, whether you make the effort to be informed. The reason the country is where it is — it’s staring at us in the mirror.
The radical left and right are doing their thing to further the divide. It’s our responsibility to separate fact from fiction – and not bolster the disinformation. Aside from the Government Accountability Office contending the acting leaders of Homeland Security are serving without Senate confirmation, there’s also an issue with the U.S. Postal Service that should concern everyone.
This election is going to have a huge presence on social media. The fact-checkers have a tough row to hoe. Lies will continue to be told. (And if past is prelude, those lies will more likely come from one side than the other.) Do your due diligence. And vote.
